The Threads That Don't Break: Performing Arts Concert
28 May 2026
Written by Ms Anne Yong

On 28 May, our English Drama and Modern Dance students took to the stage at the School of the Arts (SOTA) for a joint production, The Threads that Don’t Break. The performance was a thoughtful integration of drama and movement, bringing both disciplines together to tell an original story about growing up, facing life’s challenges, and finding one’s place in the world.

The narrative follows two orphaned girls whose paths diverge after leaving the orphanage. As they navigate life's difficulties, they draw strength from their shared memories and enduring friendship, finding the resilience to look to the future with hope. Rather than treating drama and dance as separate items on a programme, the concert wove both forms into a unified piece. Our actors brought depth and nuance to the story, while our Modern Dance students gave physical expression to the emotional heart of each scene.
Choreographing original routines across various styles, the dancers worked closely alongside the drama cast to complement the script. Dialogue and movement worked hand-in-hand, making the performance both visually engaging and emotionally grounded.

The Threads that Don’t Break was more than a showcase of our students’ artistic talents. It was a celebration of creativity, collaboration and the enduring threads of friendship and hope that carry us through life’s challenges.
